Crazy Shit

This past week/month has been completely hectic. A couple of weeks ago, Andrew and I booked some appointments to go look at some houses in Milton, because we need to move out of this place for multiple reasons. We ended up finding a gorgeous house that had just gone on the market that day, and our agent advised us that if we wanted it, we had to move fast because it wouldn't last long. We decided to go ahead and put in an offer.

Let me tell you, that is scary enough to make you shit yourself.

It so happened that another offer was made on the house the same day (let me say again that this was the first day the house was put on the market), and it was higher than our offer, even though we had offered slightly over asking.

So, we did not get that house.

On Tuesday, we had a few more houses lined up to see. We went, we saw, we were unimpressed...until the last one. It was perrrfect. Open kitchen for me, unfinished basement for Andrew, pantry, hardwood floors, three bedrooms, 1.5 baths, good sized master, everything we really wanted plus a few extras. We made an offer that night, because by now we are experienced home buyers and we know exactly what the process is.

Putting in an offer is very easy. Working your ass off to meet the time deadlines set by the conditions of your offer when it is accepted is fucking ridiculous.

On top of this, I was infected with the Death Cold, I worked a 6 day week last week, Andrew got hit by a car while riding to work yesterday (not as serious as it sounds but still really frightening), Andrew now has aforementioned Death Cold, and I had to go to a baby shower last night after work while Everything had to be done for The House.

By now, we (Andrew) have (has) submitted the astronomical ($8000!) deposit to the sellers, been approved for a sufficient mortgage, booked a home inspection, and lost a lot of sleep and probably a few years off our lives. Now we just have to find a lawyer, send the bank all the appropriate documents, pray that there is nothing wrong with the place, and find some time to move in.

I am SO EXCITED.

So, that's what's been going on with me.

Also, I am trying to get my natural hair colour back. It's not as easy as I thought it would be.

I was always alright in art class, as long as I was given a defined procedure to follow. Any time we were just told to draw something, or paint something, mine was a piece of shit. I have a very analytical mind. It's one of the reasons I enjoy working in a lab but not if I have to design the experiments. Anyway, I painted today.

For real.

See my blog for more pictures.

Rules:
Go to urbandictionary.com and type in your answers to the following questions.

Post the first definition it gives you.

Tag 10 people. If I tag you, do this!!

Name?
Marsha: To be the first to initiate your step-brothers in a sexual act. In the same manner as Marsha Brady of the Brady bunch did to each of the boys Brady. (I thought I should mention that the second definition is as a street name for cocaine. I...never thought of myself that way. Also? Marcia Brady didn't spell her name the way I do. Fucking prawns.)

Age?
Twenty-two: The second funniest number in existence. Can be used to answer almost any question. The number really just has a decent ring about it.

One of your friends?
Katie: A happy person who is a good listener and reliable friend. Likes to party and is always there when you need her. (awwwww)

What should you be doing right now?
Looking for a job: When someone smokes the cannabis all day, drinks beer and gorges themselves on sweets. This is primarily done when one has a wife, girlfriends, friends or roommate. He then lies to them and says he was "looking for a job." (HA!)

Favorite color?
purple: Extremely potent marijuana, specifically marijuana buds that have a purple hue to them. Also accompanied by a fragrant, usually fruity smell and mad perma-grin.

Birthplace?
Cobourg: No definition! That should be remedied

Month of your birth?
March: Month in which creative, laid-back, dreamy, cool people were born.

Last person you talked to?
The boy: Homer's main reference to Bart, even when speaking to Bart.

One of your nicknames?:
Marsh: Amazing last name of a man with a bright future and dreams to be accomplished. Sexually the best thing a woman has had. Intelligent and Strong. One of God's best creations. Honesty is his best policy. Selflessness is his hobby, and he would never hurt anyone unless they were a douche. (I don't understand this reference because it's probably to something extremely mannish. Like Rambo.)
Man, I am so. bored.

My fitness level has sky rocketed because with so much free time, I just work out.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO CALL ME BACK. I am good! I am qualified! I will give you what you need!

I'm talking about a lab job, not what you were thinking.

Okay. On to

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
A woman named Marsh in a book. I actually do not know what book though.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Oh, last night. I was reading. I get quite into it.

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
I don't hate it. It's legible.

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LUNCH MEAT?
Probably summer sausage. Mmmmm, drool.

5. DO YOU HAVE KIDS?
I do not. Not even kid singular.

6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
Very likely, assuming me-as-someone-else actually meets me-that-is-actually-me

7. DO YOU USE SARCASM?
Only always.

8. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
They are hanging out in my throat as I type this

9. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
I think that I would, if the sky diving option wasn't available. I would sky dive before bungee jumping.

10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CEREAL?
I've never been a big cereal person, but in a crunch, I like honey nut cheerios.

11. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?
No, I never do.

13. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ICE CREAM?
The one with the most chocolate/cookie/caramel/peanut butter flavour. I like my ice cream to make me fat.

14. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?
I don't know, I don't think it's the same thing every time. It's different depending on the person. If someone has huge teeth I'm going to notice that first. If someone has beautiful eyes I'm going to notice that first. If someone is turned away from me, I will notice their hair before their nose. You see?

15. What is your favorite colour?
Purple

16. WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF?
It changes every day. Yesterday, it was that my nose is always red. Today, I'm not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

17. WHO DO YOU MISS THE MOST?
Probably my family. My friends. Everyone I know, no one lives around here.

18. DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO COMPLETE THIS LIST?
I'm not going to hold a gun to their heads.

19. WHAT COLOUR PANTS AND SHOES ARE YOU WEARING?
I've got on jeans. And no shoes. I never understood wearing shoes in your own house.

21. WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?
Nothing much, unless you count the cat's sorrowful cries from his bedroom where I locked him because he's a little imp.

22. IF YOU WERE A CRAYON, WHAT COLOUR WOULD YOU BE?
Brown. Earthy and comfortable.

23. FAVOURITE SMELLS?
vanilla

24. WHO WAS THE LAST PERSON YOU TALKED TO ON THE PHONE?
Andrew

25. DO YOU LIKE THE PERSON WHO SENT THIS TO YOU?
I like the person I snaked it from

26. FAVOURITE SPORTS TO WATCH?
Hockey, especially OHL. The boys are cuter, and faster, and just...better.

27. HAIR COLOUR?
Red-brown

28. EYE COLOUR?
Blue-grey

29. DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS?
I do not

30 FAVOURITE FOOD?
Potatoes.

31. SCARY FILMS OR HAPPY ENDINGS?
Anything except scary films

32. LAST FILM YOU WATCHED?
I have no idea. Oh, I saw the last bit of Forgetting Sarah Marshall on the weekend. Although I'd seen it before so I don't know if that counts.

33. WHAT COLOUR SHIRT ARE YOU WEARING?
Black, with Sesame Street characters on it. That's right. I have Cookie Monster on my shirt.

34. SUMMER OR WINTER?
Summer. By a very, very, very small margin.

35. HUGS OR KISSES?
Hugs

36. FAVOURITE DESSERT?
Excluding the ones I don't like, anything. Best would be cheesecake, ice cream, pretty much anything related to chocolate, cookies, etc.

37. MOST LIKELY TO RESPOND?
No Idea

38. LEAST LIKELY TO RESPOND?
No Idea

39. WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING NOW?
The third Twilight book, and some other book, um, Dreams Made Flesh by Anne Bishop. Also sort of making my way through my book of Fairy Tales. I've always been a sucker for Fairy Tales. Also I have a bad habit of reading too many books at once.

40. WHAT IS ON YOUR MOUSE PAD?
It's just red. It has a nice gel pad to red my wrist on though. It's nice.

41. WHAT DID YOU WATCH ON TV LAST NIGHT?
LOST. AND IT CUT OFF IN THE LAST 10 SECONDS. PS, Amy, what did John/Richard say in the last 10 seconds? If you've seen it yet? Stupid network switches.

42. FAVOURITE SOUND(S)
violin, laughing (that's a good one Rachel), sneezes (funny and satisfying)

43. ROLLING STONES OR BEATLES?
Beatles

44. WHAT IS THE FARTHEST YOU HAVE BEEN FROM HOME?
PEI

45. DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL TALENT?
I can blow spit bubbles. It's certainly special, but I don't know if it qualifies as a talent.

46. WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Cobourg, Ontario

47. WHOSE ANSWERS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK?
Anyone

48. HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR SPOUSE/SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
I went to school with him. He was in my class in grade 7 but he was "cool" and I was a total dork so of course, I never talked to him ever and he really, really didn't talk to me. So, it was actually Bowers' math class in grade 12. Which one was that? Geometry and discrete. Ah, so romantic and geeky.

49. BE HONEST TELL ME. DID YOU WONDER WHERE QUESTION 12 WENT?
Only because I read Rachel's answers first. Otherwise, like her, I would not have noticed.
I need a job, in a bad way. Unfortunately, I am riddled with an abundance of laziness and unwillingness to do any actual legwork required to find a job.

That's not true, actually. I look on 3-4 job sites 10-15 times a day (I have a lot of free time), but no one is hiring anybody right now. They are all firing. I emailed McNeil and begged for a job and they said sorry but we have actually for real no monies and we let half the team go already and so, sorry.

That's not a good outlook.

Paul is fucking scratching my elbows as I type and it's REALLY FUCKING PISSING ME OFF. Excuse me for a minute.

Ahhh, that's better. Trapping him in his bedroom by using the word "food". Heh. The cat knows like 3 words, and they are "Paul" (and variations on his name like "Paulie" and "You-Fucking-Little-Piece-of-Shit-Mother-Fucking-Bastard-Get-The-Fuck-Off-the-Desk-So-Help-Me-God"), "food", and "treat". If you want to make him meow really loud, you just keep saying "treat" over and over again and walk to the kitchen where the treats are. He goes apeshit. It's kittie drugs.

I need some non-cat friends.

Since 2009 started, have you..

• Had a boyfriend/girlfriend:
I have, yes. Three or four actually.

• Had your birthday:
Nope

• Been to church:
I have not, although I watched a comedian talk about his first (and only) experience in a Catholic church, and I nearly peed my pants laughing.

• Cried:
A little bit

• Had someone close to you pass away:
Yes, not extremely close, but she was my neighbour and I used to babysit for her in high school.

• Pulled an all nighter:
Only once in first year in between physics and calculus.

• Drank tim hortons:
Yes of course

• Gone on a shopping spree:
Yes and I bought nothing except towels. It was great.

• Gone to the movies:
No

• Bought something over $100:
Definitely not. Unless you count rent.

• Met someone new:
Nope

• Been out of your home town:
Yes

• Done something craazy:
Not likely

• Thought about moving:
Oh yes, almost every day.

• Kissed someone:
Yes. A few people.

• Slept in a friend's bed:
Nope

• Snuck someone over:
I can't say

• Snuck out of your own house:
Yes. I can't have my parents knowing that I sometimes run errands in the middle of the day. From my own apartment.

• Been to a bar:
Not technically. I've been to a restaurant that had a bar, and we were seated in the bar section, so.....yeah.

• Been cαlled α whore:
Not yet this year. Keeping the old fingers crossed though, maybe this weekend.

• Drove somewhere:
Every day

• Done something you regret:
I don't think so

• Drαnk αlcohol:
Of course

Last :

• Thing you bought:
I put money on the laundry card. Oh! The excitement of my lifestyle!

• Person you hugged:
Paulie

• Person to call you:
Andrew, last night at the pool to tell me to get my ass outside

• Person who messaged you:
Andrew, to ask me if I'd gone out yet. I hadn't. I still haven't.

• Time you took a bubble bαth:
I honestly don't even know.

• Time you felt stupid:
All the time counts, right?

• Time you walked a mile:
I'm not sure how far a mile is. The last time I went for a run, it was about 7.5 kilometres, which is not the same unit and is also not the same mode of transportation, but I am Canadian and we measure things more logically up here. Also, I probably walked a "mile" on Saturday at Square One.

• Person who saw you cry:
Andrew

• Person who made you cry:
Barack Obama. Actually, it wasn't him, it was Aretha Franklin. No, it was even before her. I think what made me cry was realizing that today is the day that finally, finally, Bush has no power anymore.

• Person you watched a movie with:
Andyroo

• Person you danced with:
Paulie

• Person you yelled at:
Paul. I yell at him a lot. The last time, he was on top of the tv trying to catch the light reflection on the ceiling. THE CEILING. He is dumb.

• Person that told you they loved you:
Andrew

• Friend you missed hanging with:
All of them

• Person to hαve α serious conversαtion with:
Andrew

• Song you listened to:
Something by the Barenaked Ladies

• Thing you did last night:
Went to the pool to read while Andrew swam

TOMORROW IS LOST!!!!!!!!!!

Must find all my old LOST icons.

Christmas was orgasmic this year. I got everything I asked for plus lots of stuff I didn't and now my entire kitchen is rearranged and I have this mythical counter space I've heard so much whispering about and I looovvvvee it.

Andrew's sister got me Twilight which at first I was like, "uhhh, thanks. I hate reading books that are cool and everyone is into them because they usually suck. Hard. But thanks" Then I read it. HOLY SHIT good book. It's totally exactly the kind of book I always read that no one has ever heard of before. So, lucky Stephanie Meyer there.

Today, I am sick. I actually took my temperature because I felt so shitty, and I have a fever. Of 38. Or 100.4, as google calculator informs me. This is not cool, because for the first time ever in our relationship, Andrew and I had fun plans for New Years. We were to go out to downtown Toronto. We cancelled earlier, actually, because he has a migraine plus a death cold that won't go away, but wow. New Years eve plus us does so not equal love (NYE + AM ≠ ♥). It's disheartening. Sigh. Maybe next year.

In other news, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and enjoys a very happy New Year.

Movie first though, so you have something to talk about over dinner if the guy is a real dud.

35. Favorite jeans:
My bootlegger jeans that I bought in like, grade 9. Holy shit, they're like, 7 years old. Well, I love them. They still make my ass look great.

37. Favorite animal:
Elephant. He's creepy and scary and might be insane.

What were you doing at 9 pm friday night?
Last friday, I was...watching TV alone because Andrew was in Cobourg. I met her in second year, so...the only "trouble" you can get into is with the law, and that's never happened

Q: What do you and number 7 talk about the most?
A: we used to talk about work, how he doesn't know what my last name is ("Is your water bottle green because of your last name?" She's not incredible secretive

Q: Describe the relationship between number 9 and number 5.
A: I do not believe that they know each other. Unless you know something I don't.

Q: What is the best thing about your friendship with number 4?
A: She makes awesome food and is fucking hilarious

Q: Have you ever danced with number 7?
A: Nope

Q: How long have you known number 12?
A: Almost 2 years

Q: Have you ever been in a fight with number 8?
A: No, we're both too easy going

Q: Does number 5 have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
A: He has a boyfriend

Q: Have you ever been a co-worker with number 2?
A: No, I've been a co-inhabitant though...

Q: Have you ever wanted to punch number 6 in the face?
A: No! We kicked some ass. And got some ass kicked.

Q: Do you live close to 7?
A: Um, about an hour. He lives in Toronto.

Q: What is number 2's favorite food?
A: Shit, I don't know. I probably should, I used to live with her. I didn't share her kitchen...

Q: Out of your top 12, which one would you say is the funniest?
A: Julia.
So, The X-Files movie was a very broad and grave disappointment. I'm not sure, exactly, what I had been expecting, but what I got was a long, drawn out romance affirmation between Mulder and Scully and very little by the way of, I don't know, a story?

It wasn't very X-Filesy.

It was all about faith and God, and believing. Somehow, coming away from the theatre, I had the feeling that Mulder had been portrayed as a sad, pathetic figure, and Scully was valiantly trying to rescue him from wasting his life, whilst performing medical miracles herself. The X-file was little more than a series of murders that a man may or may not have had a psychic link to - not the strongest plot line.

Where were the werewolve, the vampires, the Loch Ness monsters? When they said it was a "monster" movie and not following the mythology story arc, I was excited because all my favourite X-Files episodes (with a few exceptions) are monster of the week episodes. This monster wasn't scary, and very upsettingly, was predictable and boring.

I did enjoy the pencils in the ceiling though. Heh.

I'm going to go have an X-Files marathon now so I can remember why this show was the most awesome creation ever. Sigh.

I wrote an exam at 8:30 this morning after about 4 hours of sleep due to a hyperactive mind that wouldn't shut the hell up. The exam was pretty good. I needed a 59.25% on it to get an 80 in the course, or an 84.25% to get a 90 overall. I can say with reasonable confidence that I got at least 59, and I actually probably got more than 84. To translate, I effing rocked that shit.

When I got home I dicked around for a good amount of time. I was actually "preparing for a run" by drinking some water and reading digg. Then I decided to turn on the TV and What Not to Wear was on so that of course delayed my run for another hour. I finally did get out for a run though, and it really was a beautiful day today. The sky was so blue, and the trees were so green, and the road I was running on is a gravelly back road, and at one point I just thought "Wow, I wish I had a camera".

I'm a country girl at heart. I've never been awed by a cityscape. Give me trees and a clear sky anyday.

Anyway, I had been planning to take a nap at some point during the day but somehow I never got around to it. Like I never got around to studying for immunology either. OOPS. I blame Tyra Bands and then whoever that bitch is (Robin?) on Girlicious. I am addicted to these shows. I am a sad case.

All of this, of course, has resulted in me being SO. TIRED. LIKE. WOW.

But I still haven't studied immunology.

I wish the cell cycle didn't involve approximately five billion molecules that are all shortened to 3-letter acronyms that start with "c". I also wish apoptosis did not involve the same molecules plus about 3 billion more, as well as 2 billion that start with "b". Who the hell designed this? Cdk, Ch1, Cln, Clb, CED, CDKI, cdc2, cdc6, cdc20, cdc28 (I could go on), CAK, CKI, etc. etc., and then we get to bax, bid, bim, bcl, bh3, bad, bak, bok, bik, bmf, and to make matters worse, there are bcl-2, are bcl-xl and bcl-w and etc. Additionally, some of them are the same fucking thing. For example, cdc28 IS cdc2 and ALSO is cyclin B. FUCK THIS.

The sad part is, I am not making this up.

ETA:
THIS IS WHAT I AM DEALING WITH:

So my second year course beat my ass. The exam was so hard, frak. Goddamned russian son of a bitch. Biophysics of excitable cells = worst course ever.

I think I might subscribe to the belief that chronic dehydration is the root cause behind many if not most of the world's chronic health problems. I make this statement based on readings I've done by Dr. Batmanghelidj (coolest name ever), as well as personal anecdotal evidence. I get headaches that I think are probably migraines every once in a while. The usually last for about a week, and then go away for a few weeks or months. A few weeks ago I was having a headachy week. The first day I took Advil, which, as always, did less than nothing. The second day I went to bed at about 4 in the afternoon because I couldn't sit up and keep my eyes open. The third day, I drank three glasses of water when I felt my headache coming on shortly after noon. Within 20 minutes, it was gone. GONE. I continued to drink shitloads of liquids the rest of the day, and I never got the headache. The rest of the week I tried to drink helluva lots of water every day (and I paid for it by peeing every 15 minutes), but my headaches stayed away.

So this doctor, I think he is dead now, but when he was alive, he regularly cured people's pain by having them drink water. I can't remember a whole lot of his stories, and I'm pretty sure all they are are personal stories. I don't think a clinical trial has been done, but I could be wrong about that. At any rate, I don't necessarily need someone to tell me that a treatment works for a significant number of people if I already know that it works for me. Anyway, one story of his I remember in particular is about a patient with a stomach ulcer. This patient had been tortured for a long time with unbearable stomach pain. He had been given the strongest drugs known to man, but nothing worked. Then Dr. Batmanghelidj came along, and gave him a few glasses of water. Within a few minutes, the patient's pain had subsided to a manageable level.

On a scientific basis, I think the theory is pretty sound. We need a lot of water to perform all of our cellular processes. When we dont drink enough, or when we drink too many diuretics, we are robbing our cells of water. In an attempt to function without water, they steal it from other places. For example, our body is in general agreement that the brain is pretty important. So, if brain cells are thirsty, they're the first ones to get water from other parts of the body. A lot of our water is lost by breathing - you can see this in the winter when you have frosty breath. When our brain cells don't have water, a signal is sent to our lungs (in the form of histamine) to constrict the airways, and decrease respiration, to free up that water for the parched brain cells. As an individual, we perceive this as asthma, and doctors treat the symptom with antihistamines that allow us to breathe again. BUT this treatment does nothing for the root cause, which is insufficient water.

So, I'm going to try to drink more.

This was a good weekend. I managed to do a 5 k run yesterday, and a 16 k bike ride. Today my legs don't hurt anywhere near as much as I think they should, which I am taking as just another bonus.

I think I finished my immunology lab report. It's a piece of shit, but it's pretty much as done as it's going to be. My level of caring about it is off the chart in the negative direction.

I'm having trouble initiating the studying schedule. All I can think about is moving in with Andrew in May. It makes studying about chemical synapses and non-stimulatory membranes pale in comparison.

On the 19th us biochem geeks are going on a total bender. It should be a blast, especially because we're having a shot-in-a-test-tube making contest since Paula stole a massive box of test tubes for us. Carolyn may bring Cranium, which is probably the nerdiest game that could turn into a drinking game EVAR. I can't fucking wait.

Clipless pedals actually scare the shit out of me. On Friday we went out for a bike ride around the subdivision here, and as I may have previously mentioned, clipless pedals? Clip your shoes into the pedals. Also? I can barely touch the ground when seated on my bike. Also? I can't touch the ground with my toes in fear of damaging the cleats on my shoes. This combination makes stopping very, very dangerous for me. Late in the ride, I was approaching a stop sign, and I tried to unclip my feet in preparation to stop. However, I lack talent in the unclipping of the feet category, and therefore, when I actually came to a stop, I just...fell over. Kind of in slow motion. And of course in doing so, my feet were torn out of the pedals, giving me the freedom to save myself just after I needed it. The main problem with this was that I scratched my pedals on the cement. Also the guy driving the truck on the intersecting road totally saw me and I'm sure had I had the time to look up from my impending impact, I would have seen him guffawing.

I am so tired of missing Andrew. I make a career out of it, and I am way past the age of retirement. Fack.

This enzymology report/immunology presentation/immunology report is/are kicking my ass. All weekend, all day today, and it's only 4ish. I'm also tired of school. I'm so glad this semester is almost over.

Beverly Hills 90210 is probably the best show they could put on at 4 pm on weekdays. It's sooo eighties, and I'm totally into the storyline since I caught a few episodes over the past few months. You've gotta love a show on which everyone has had sex with everyone else.

My new Kona zing is my new boyfriend. Although I feel as though if it were given a pronoun, it would be feminine...so, my new Kona zing is my new girlfriend. She's sky blue, and shiny, and so fucking beautiful. I'll find a picture to share the love.

Isn't she pretty? Aren't you jealous? She and I have been getting intimate on a pretty regular basis. It's sexy. I took her outside for a ride as soon as I got her, and I almost (ALMOST) fell when I was trying to stop. This was partly due to the fact that with clipless pedals your feet are clipped into the pedals, partly due to the fact that I was going downhill at the time, partly due to the nature of the shoes which, as it happens, one cannot stand on the toes of because one might damage the clip, and partly because due to my freakishly long femurs (as I've been told), my seat is up pretty high and I can't really reach the ground. But, did I fall? NO. I am a lady.

Saturday night I made the most awesome dress I have ever made. It looks professional. And it looks like I paid a LOT of money for it. In reality, I paid under $10 for the fabric, and spent about two hours cutting and sewing. And voila! Beauty! I'd post a picture of it too, but then it would detract from the surprise factor when I wear it out on the miaden voyage. I was just too excited not to mention it.

Group work is the devil. Working with someone who speaks five languages of which English is only one is especially challenging. Communicating with this guy is so frigging taxing, I'm exhausted. I have to correct almost every sentence he writes because it doesn't make grammatical sense.

Oh my god, there was a Seinfeld episode type thing on earlier where they did a bunch of recap things, or something, they took scenes from all throughout the series and stuck them together. At one point they were doing bloopers...I was laughing so hard tears were actually streaming down my face. TV shows generally don't make me laugh that hard. Oh man, Seinfeld is hilarious.

OK, I should get back to my fucking enzymology report. Fucking enzymology.

She chuckles.

Kaushik: "...and so this cocksucking virus..."

Eric leans over: "Did he just say...cocksucking virus?"

Me: "Oh yes" return to uncontrollable giggles.

Stella: uncontrollable giggles.

Stella and I are 12. I honestly have no. clue. what Kaushik was actually saying, but it sounded exactly like "cocksucking", and holy fuck, I am still laughing just remembering. Today was our last lecture with him, for which I am grateful, and I am glad it ended on a high note.

Hahaha, could you imagine?

ETA: I actually did some pubmedding, and I think he was referring to the "coxsackievirus", which does indeed sound like "cocksucking", even when spoken by someone who's first language is english.

1. What is your favorite thing about spring?
Days like today. Warm weather that isn't really warm but feels nice because you're acclimatized to crazy 20 below zero temperatures. Running water after months of frozen wasteland. Birds, skunks, racoons.

2. What is your favorite thing about Summer?
I like that I can wear summer clothes, and nice shoes, and be comfortable inside and outside in the same gear. I live for the summer.

3. What is your favorite thing about Fall?
The crisp, refreshing air. The pretty colours. The hint of change.

4. What is your favorite thing about Winter?
Spring.

5. How do you feel about racism?
I think by default I take a scientific look at it, and wonder why someone could ever think another member of their species is inferior based on the land they hail from. We're all from Africa, the only difference is how we've evolved over the years based on our own environments.

6. How do you feel about global warming?
I feel like people have no understanding about what it is and what it could potentially be, and it's become a widespread joke. "Wow, it's been winter forever, so much for global warming eh?" This is weather change, global warming is climate change. I'm bitter.

7. How do you feel about recycling?
I feel like it's a great idea that isn't really working.

8. Can you cook?
Yeah, I can. I can totally cook like, amazingly well.

9. Do you own a bible?
I used to have a New Testament that they handed out in school one time (and now that I think about it, I have no idea why they did because...I went to a public school. I didn't see them handing out any Korans or Torahs). I don't know where it is now, and I don't care to.

10. What are the best things in life?
The little moments that everyone has. Awkward hugs, clean sheets, seeing Jay Ingram.

11. Look outside, how's the weather?
Oh today was fucking gorgeous. I got out for a run, and I loved it.

12. what kind of vehicle do you drive?
A crapster that somehow starts at -20°C. Chrysler neon.

13. What is your least favorite thing to do?
Study.

14. do you grow your own vegetables?
No, I don't have a garden. I rent.

15. Name something great that happened today?
I went for a run. I got my hat I'd ordered from Spring. It was my birthday and I made myself spaghetti for supper.

16. One place you would love to visit?
Australia

17. what is your favorite holiday?
Christmas

18. what is you favorite color?
Purple. It is pretty in all its forms.

19. who is your best friend and why?
Andrew because he knows everything about me and therefore responds absolutely perfectly.

20. what two characterisitics best describe you?
I'd say...independent, and grounded

21. finish this sentance: "Children need...."
love

22. Have you been happy recently?.
I'm almost always happy

23. do you like getting flowers?
I love getting flowers. I have almost never gotten flowers though. Except once.

24. who do you shop for most?
Me. I live alone, I rarely see Andrew.

25. What are you currently listening to?
Daily Planet (JAY INGRAM!)

26. who do you miss the most?
Andrew. Sometimes I miss my mom but mostly I am just happy to not be responsible to her. Many friends who for various reasons I haven't been as close to as I once was.

27. what is something you think everyone should try once?
Whatever they're most afraid of

29. do you own a bicycle?
I just got a new bicycle! Oh what are the chances of this question being asked? It's a Kona Zing and it's blue and gorgeous and I love it to death.

30. Is lying ever acceptable?
Yes.

31. What was the last movie you watched?
I caught the end of 40 Year-Old Virgin the other night. I think the last full movie I saw was Dirty Dancing. I had an urge one night.

32. Name someone who has turned your life around?
Andrew. I am so much healthier than I once was. I have never been this thin and toned. Nor have I ever thought about entering a duathlon, but, look at me. Training.

34. what is your favorite TV show?
The X-Files. Movie, July. I live for it.

35. Who was the last person to give you a hug?
HA! Kirill, yesterday. It was awkward and Stella laughed at me.

36. Was today a good day?
Today was one of the best days.

37. what is something you are excited for?
Moving to Oakville with Andrew and getting a cat and not going weeks and weeks without seeing each other.

38. Do you believe in God?
I believe in the possibility of God, but I don't think it is what the bible says it is. The bible was written by men, and contains so many assertions that I can't agree with that I couldn't possibly accept it as a personal holy book. There are unexplainable things, things that can't be explained by science. Wow. I sound like Steve.

39. What are you good at?
I'm good at baking, sewing, laughing, and procrastinating. Also I am good at making goals and not attaining them.

40. What is your Zodiac sign?
Aries. But I am not an Aries. I'm not very well described by any of the signs. But, I would say, least of all Aries.

41. Do you like to sleep late?
I love sleeping. I hate missing half the day. I try to find a happy medium.

42. what is something that makes you sad?
Winter.

43. can you sing?
No. Just...no.

45. what is the most important trait in a friend?
Trust

46. Last person you saw?
Morgan. One of the girls who lives upstairs.

47. What do you say most when you're trying NOT to curse?
Frig, damn, heck. You know, "soft" curse words. It's what they were invented for.

48. what are you doing today?
Not too much more, it's almost my bed time.

49.
